Neil Sullivan is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sylvan Energy,
LLC, an independent oil and gas company headquartered in Pittsburgh. A
recognized leader in the industry, Neil has over 40 years of production
and exploration experience, the last 31 years in executive positions
principally in the U.S. Gulf Coast . both onshore and offshore, the
Mid-Continent, the Permian Basin and the Appalachian Basin as well as
international operations.
Sullivan received his Bachelor.s degree in Geology from Dickinson
College in 1970, his Master.s degree in Geology from Tulane University in
1994 and completed post-graduate studies in geology at the University of
South Carolina.
Formerly, Sullivan served concurrently as Chief Operating Officer for
Texas Keystone, Inc., a private Pittsburgh-based oil and gas company, and
Vice President of Exploration and Production for Gulf Keystone Petroleum
Ltd. from 2002 to 2005. At Gulf Keystone Petroleum, he helped the company
list on the London Stock Exchange.AIM in 2004 and conducted the
exploration and development drilling program in Algeria. From 1998 to
2002, he headed GAPCO Energy, LLC as President and Owner where he
developed and marketed the company.s producing properties. acquisition and
development program with emphasis on Gulf Coast producing gas fields.
Prior to that, Neil headed Bluebonnet Petroleum Company and New Ventures
Associates as President and Owner from 1987 to 1997. At Bluebonnet, he
developed and managed two exploration and development joint ventures in
the onshore Gulf Coast. At New Ventures Associates, he developed and
negotiated foreign governments. participation, marketed to major oil
companies, and managed international participation projects, acquisitions,
and concessions with a focus on the former Soviet Union. Neil served
successively as Vice-President of Exploration and Production for Anadarko
Petroleum and Valero Energy from 1980 through 1987, and for Forcenergy
Inc. in 1997-98.
His industry and professional organization activities comprise
memberships in the Pennsylvania Independent Oil & Gas Association, the
American Association of Petroleum Geologists as a Certified Petroleum
Geologist and the Society for Sedimentary Geology where he held the
position of President - Permian Basin Section. Neil was formerly
appointed by the Secretary of Interior to the Outer Continental Shelf
Advisory Board.
Sullivan was awarded a Certificate of Commendation from the Mental
Health Association of San Antonio for his work to support and promote
mental health care in the community. He formerly served on the board of
the Permian Basin Graduate Center; volunteered as religious education
director for his church, and was fundraising chairman for the Museum of
the Southwest and the Jaycees.
Entering the new EF high school with the first sophomore class in the
fall of 1957, Sullivan got a preview of the new facility during his first
football summer camp. He earned three letters in football and also
participated in track and field, volleyball and gymnastics. His less
physical extracurricular activities include being presidents of the
Language Club, singing in the Chorus and serving as sports editor of the
school newspaper where he wrote the column, Silky.s Skulkings.
Neil resides with his wife Holly in Allison Park. They have three grown
children.
